I need professional help...

I'm moving. Actually I not moving yet, I am still in the looking and packing stage. My parents are moving in with me and while my condo is absolutely wonderful for 1 adult and 2 very cool cats, it is not so wonderful for 3 adults and 2 cats. Hence, I am moving. As I am in the looking and perhaps more significant, packing stage. I have put a lot of my stuff in storage to ensure my place is more welcoming to potential buyers. Much of this packed up and stored stuff is knitting yarn, knitting supplies and books. Lots and lots of books. It has been mentioned to me that not everyone loves knitting and reading as much as I do, in fact the majority of people do not love either. Of course to this I say that the world needs more knitters and readers. I digress. At first I thought it was only going to take a few weeks until a new place was found, but alas no the search continues and it has been too long for rosiegirl. So what have I done that necessitates the cry for professional help? How about 4 new knitting books and 3 non knitting books. I am weak. The only reason I do not have yet even more yarn is because thankfully (?) my LYS is closed by time I get off work and I have so many things to do for this move on Saturdays that I never have a chance to get there. I mean who buys more books when they are trying to limit the number of books so that they can sell their place. As I said...I need professional help

Out I Say, Out...

While the rest of North America was preparing for the fiesta that is known as the Superbowl, I managed to get sucked into a Hoarders marathon. This is not a show that I make a point of watching , in fact I probably have only seen it a few times before. Hence for me all of the shows today were 'new'. However everytime I have seen the show I have an overwhelming urge to toss everything in my place and start anew. This time was no exception.

My place is no way even comparable to the situations that the persons on this show are in. I do have a bit of a tendency that when I start something and like it suddenly it is the only thing I do. When I was a young teenager I discovered pasta salad and honestly I swear that I ate almost nothing else for a week. I remember my borther actually teasing me about it. Most recently I have taken up knitting, and I have even started to learn crocheting. I have a stash; for some this would not be a hugh stash, but for me, it is enormous, especially when I realize the short period of time I have been knitting. But it is not the just the yarn stash...no, I now have an ever growing collection of knitting books. While I am never going to be one of those people whose place is minimalist, I do try to keep the clutter under control. Every so often I tackle something (either a room or a type of possession such as clothes or books) and get rid of the excess.

So having watched this mararthon, where people offered justifications for keeping things that defied logic, I once again looked around the place and started a box for charity. This time I decided to start in the kitchen. I have duplicates and they must go (right now one of my dish sets is in the charity box). There are a number of things that are easy enough for me to get rid of, excess dishes and clothes are not an issue. Now if you are asking me about books...uhhhmm...that is not so easy. This is not to say that it has not been done, just that for me it is tougher than getting rid of excess dishes.

For now I think the plan is to go through all of my clothes and send what I no longer wear to charity. I want to have all of the excess ready by next Sunday, which means I will be able to drop it off on Tuesday (they are closed on Monday).

Goin' back

Once again I need to apologise for my lack of posting. This is becoming routine. As I would say at work, great intentions, lousy follow up. I still have not figured out how to post pictures, or properly link things. There are a number of blogs that I read and I love the pictures, how they are able to show what they are talking about without rambling on and on. So frustrating.

Tomorrow, I am back to work. I know most everyone else returned to work on the 4th, but not me. No, I took one more week off. Truthfully it has been great. It is not like I have done anything overly exciting, quite the contrary, most of my time has been spent doing things like catching up with friends, trying out recipes and of course knitting. No, I have not finished anything. Really, who knew that I would frog a scarf, not once, not twice, heck not even three times. Try five, yes that is correct, five times. In my defence, even though it is an easy scarf (the original and subsequent patterns were just knits and purls), the yarn is uneven and when it is knit up, it is very stiff, not squishy like I expected or want. Right now I am determined to finish this, so I can get to the next project...a scarf for me.

In regards to my babies (this is where I really wish I could post pics, then you could see just how cute they are), both are most happy when I put on the fireplace. In fact I get a little concerned that George is going to accidently burst into flames as he gets as close as possible and stays for so long I swear I can see heat rising from him. Sweetie Pie on the other hand is a little more reserved about the fireplace, she seems to prefer the chair closest to the fireplace where she promptly buries herself in whatever blanket I happen to have left on the chair. This of course means that I have to make sure she is not inside the blanket before I sit down. Trust me the few times I have not checked and she has been there, she made it very clearly known that she was not amused. If the roles were reversed I would not have been amused either.

In the future...pics (hopefully)

I am still trying to figure out how this blog thingy works (believe it or not I just accidentally deleted the previous posts I had for this blog) and right now I really want to figure out how to add pictures. I have finally jumped into the digital age and ordered a digital camera. Ordered? Yes, I meant to say ordered. In my effort to be somewhat frugal, I am using my Save On More Points to get the camera. Obviously it will not be the most expensive or best camera on the market, however I am not known for exuberant picture taking and cash wise it is free. I figured that rather than spend a bunch of money on something that I may quickly tire of, I would use the points that I have been accumulating for quite some time. Once I get the camera I just need to figure out how to add pics then I will able to show you how I am progressing with my knitting and other things.

Soon, hopefully soon.
